LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville men's basketball program has officially added former USC guard/forward Tre White, the program announced Thursday.

White is the second player to officially sign with the Cardinals today, joining former Miami forward Danilo Jovanovich. All eight of the Cardinals' currently committed newcomers for the 2023-24 season have now officially signed with the program.

“I’m very excited to add one of the bright freshmen in the country who can rebound, score and defend,” head coach Kenny Payne said in a release. “Tre is a versatile player who will make a tremendous impact on our program. He’s a high-character, hard-working young man who knows what he wants from the game and is willing to put the time into it. He will bring a winning spirit to Louisville that the fan base will love.”

The 6-foot-7, 210-pound shooting guard/small forward didn't waste any time becoming an impact player as a true freshman for USC. Making 33 appearances and 29 starts last season, White averaged 9.0 points and 5.1 rebounds per game, while also shooting 47.4 percent from the field. He was named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team for his efforts, and helped the Trojans go 22-11 with a berth in the NCAA Tournament.

The Napa, Calif native was a consensus four-star prospect by the four major recruiting services coming out of Prolific Prep, and was ranked as high as the No. 31 prospect in the nation according to ESPN. As a senior, he averaged 18.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game en route to guiding Prolific Prep to a 26-6 overall record.

The Cardinals went just 4-28 this past season in their first year under Payne, and roster management has been in full swing since the end of their season. Seven players entered the transfer portal, with only Mike James, J.J. Traynor, Brandon Huntley-Hatfield and Emmanuel Okorafor are returning for year two under Payne.

Conversely, Payne and his staff have been hard at work attempting to bring in fresh talent for next season. They are set to bring in transfers White, Jovanovich and Skyy Clark; 2023 prospects Dennis Evans, Trentyn Flowers, Kaleb Glenn and Curtis Williams Jr.; plus JUCO transfer Koron Davis. According to 247Sports, their high school recruiting class comes in at No. 5 nationally, while their transfer class is 25th.
