Louisville football doesn’t want one bad game to turn into another one.

The Cardinals had least their least competitive performance of the season in a 52-27 loss to Miami Nov. 9. Miami dominated throughout in a conference game between two five-win teams, but Louisville coach Scott Satterfield doesn’t want his team to linger on the loss.

“Whether you did play well or if you didn’t play well it doesn’t matter,” Satterfield said. “You have to come back this week and give it everything you have in your preparation.”

Though there were some bright spots in the game against Miami, Satterfield said there were plenty of hard meetings yesterday with position groups.

Louisville outgained Miami, finishing with 496 yards of offense, but the Cardinals lost a fumble and threw two interceptions. Hurricane quarterback Darren Williams set a school record with six touchdown passes.

“Sometimes when you come in on Sunday, players are going to have to have thick skin, they got to be able to take coaching and know that what we are trying to do is make them a better team and better individuals,” Satterfield said. “The structure is going to be the same, but when you come back obviously the corrections, the mental part is going to be a little different.”

Louisville charts extrusion during practices and Satterfield thought yesterday’s practice was one of the better Sunday performances. Things won’t change as Louisville prepares for NC State.

The Cardinals travel to Raleigh for their final conference road game of the season Nov. 16 at 7:30 p.m. Louisville is one win away from bowl eligibility.
