LOUISVILLE, Ky. - With Jeff Brohm taking over as the head coach of the Louisville football program, the offensive side of the ball is going to look much different. Out with Scott Satterfield's run first system, and in with a pro-style, pass-heavy attack.

While running backs are going to be utilized very differently under the new regime, they still have an important role. Now that the Cardinals are three weeks deep into spring ball, the backs are starting to realize what their potential can be for 2023.

"It's crazy, because I feel like this prepares you for the next level," running back Jawhar Jordan said. "That's just something that I look forward to. I can't wait to see how things end up in the season. This offense is definitely explosive."

The man responsible for the coaching the running backs under Brohm is someone who is also very familiar with the program. While he didn't play for the Cardinals, Chris Barclay is a Louisville native, and he played his high school ball not very far from L&N Stadium at Male High School.

"It's a dream come true," Barclay said. "Every day I come out here, it's just surreal. Especially when I come into the stadium. I remember being a little kid and sitting in these seats, just wondering if, one day, would I have the opportunity? I didn't have the opportunity as a player, but the good Lord saw fit to bring me back as a coach. I've been praying on this for a long time."

Following Friday's practice, Barclay, Jordan and fellow running backs Isaac Guerendo and Maurice Turner took time to meet with the media. They discussed spring practice up to this point, the role of the running back in Jeff Brohm's offense, the transition to the new scheme, and more.
