Watch: Brian Brohm, Louisville QBs Talk Start of Spring Practice

The Cardinals are now three practices deep into spring ball.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - With Jeff Brohm taking over as the head coach of the Louisville football program, the offensive side of the ball is going to look much different. Out with Scott Satterfield's run first system, and in with a pro-style, pass-heavy attack.

The man responsible for that side of the ball, like Brohm, is also someone that Cardinals fans should be very familiar with. His younger brother Brian, who is one of the top signal callers in UofL history and was Jeff's offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach at Purdue, opted to follow his older brother back to his alma mater.

"It's been great getting to be back in my hometown, back where I played and grew up, Brian said. "At first, it was a little different. You're used to being the player walking in, and now you're the coach. It's been a good feeling to be back home."

Fortunately for the Brohm brothers, not every quarterback on the roster will have to learn the new system from scratch as Louisville kicks off spring ball. Former Cal quarterback Jack Plummer spent the first four years of his collegiate career at Purdue under the Brohms, and opted to spend his last year in college with the Cardinals after spending last season in Berkeley.

"I think it's valuable (having that experience)," Plummer said. "When we're doing a player run practices and stuff, me being a a sixth-year guy and having played in Brohm's system for four years, just being able to coach the guys up, knowing the ins and outs of the offense, all the calls all the routes, the splits, how many steps are taken. Just being able to explain to guys when the coaches can't be there, just give a little refreshers and stuff like that. I think it's very valuable."

Following Saturday's practice, Brohm, Plummer, Brock Domann, Evan Conley and Khalib Johnson took time to meet with the media. They discussed the start of spring practice, the adjustment to the new system, Plummer's role as a leader, and more.
