Watch: Jeff Brohm Talks Completion of Coaching Staff, Signing Day

The first year head coach of the Cardinals recently filled out his assistant coaching staff, and Wednesday marked the traditional signing day for the Class of 2023.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Roughly a month and a half after returning to his alma mater, Jeff Brohm has finally filled out his first coaching staff.

On Tuesday, the head coach of the Louisville football program officially announced his tenth and final position assistant hire on the Cardinals' staff.

"I believe in adding as much experience to a room,” Brohm said Wednesday at the Howard Schnellenberger Complex. “We've got former head coaches on our staff, former offensive and defense coordinators, a lot of big schools. We try to continue to add great people to the mix that are going to blend in and bond well with the people we have, and can work together for a common cause to help us win championships.”

Over on offense, Brian Brohm will serve as the Cardinals' offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, with Garrick McGee coaching the wide receivers, Chris Barclay being responsible for the running backs, Ryan Wallace manning the tight ends and Richard Owens overseeing the offensive line.

On the other side of the line of scrimmage, secondary coach Ron English and defensive line coach Mark Hagen will be co-defensive coordinators, while Steve Ellis coaches the cornerbacks. The lone holdover from the Satterfield era in Mark Ivey has moved to coach linebackers, while Karl Maslowski will be the special teams coordinator.

Wednesday also marked the traditional signing day for the Class of 2023 in college football. With Louisville signing a vast majority of their commits in the cycle last December during the early signing period, the only recruit to put pen to paper with the Cardinals this time around was Nashville (Tenn.) Franklin Road Academy offensive tackle Joe Crocker. Louisville also officially signed six transfers that they landed in between the two signing periods.

"Obviously, the first signing day is the really big one where you spend a lot of time recruiting guys all year long, trying to convince them to come be a part of your program and helping the success and building championship level team," Brohm said. "Today, it's been a good day as well."
