Watch: HC Jeff Brohm, Louisville Players Talk Start of Spring Practice

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville football program is back in action.
On Tuesday, the Cardinals officially kicked off their 2023 spring practice, holding their first practice session inside L&N Stadium. It's also the first organized practice under head coach Jeff Brohm, who returned to his alma mater this past December following the departure of then-head coach Scott Satterfield.
"It's great to get out and practice, for sure," Brohm said. "I think our guys want to do well. They want to work hard, they want to win. They're putting forth good effort, and that's a positive. That's got to continue to happen."
The program is holding 15 total practice sessions, six of which are completely open to the public. It will all culminate with the spring game, which is set to take place on Friday, Apr. 21 at 7:00 p.m. EST.
Since Tuesday was the first organized practice since the end of the 2022 season, the start to spring ball was kept relatively simple and relegated to mainly day one scheme installs and things of that nature. With the regime change, the Cardinals sport a plethora of both new players and coaches as well.
"I think like any type of learning you have, you've got to memorize certain things off the bat," Brohm said. "You've got to understand the basics, you've got to be able to quiz yourself. ... It's one thing to know it, but you got to know it and understand it, and be able to communicate and answer it right away. In football, things happen very fast. There's a lot of moving parts. If you don't know all the answers to the questions, you're gonna have hard time showcasing your ability. So that takes some time."
Following their first practice the preseason, Brohm, defensive tackle Dezmind Tell and center Bryan Hudson took time to meet with the media. They discussed what he saw in the first day of spring ball, how the players have adjusted to the new schemes, and more.
