Louisville WR Chance Morrow to Enter Transfer Portal

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville wide receiver Chance Morrow plans to enter his name into the transfer portal, he announced Tuesday on social media.
"I want to express my gratitude to Cardinals Nation and the coaching staff for all the love and support during my journey with the football program," he said in a graphic posted to Twitter. "My time at University of Louisville has been great and I have enjoyed working with the strength and conditioning team, academic support team, athletic trainers and my teammates."
Morrow joined Louisville as part of their 2022 recruiting class, and redshirted his first and only season on campus. Though allotted four games while preserving his redshirt, he did not play a single snap for the Cardinals on offense or special teams.
Coming out of Charlotte (N.C.) West Charlotte, the 6-foot-6, 195-pound receiver was ranked as the No. 872 prospect in the 2022 cycle by the 247Sports Composite. He also held offers from Miami, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Oklahoma.
His entry into the transfer portal isn't completely unexpected. Louisville has been extremely active when it comes to recruiting new wide receivers, landing transfers Jamari Thrash, Kevin Coleman, Jadon Thompson and Jimmy Calloway; as well as high school prospects Jahlil McClain, William Fowles and Cataurus Hicks. Ahmari Huggins-Bruce - who was Louisville's second-leading receiver in 2022 - and Chris Bell are the only returning scholarship wideouts.
Morrow is the 15th Cardinal to enter the portal following the end of the regular season. Fortunately, Louisville has done a good job at countering their portal losses, landing 15 commitments via the portal up to this point, and more likely on the way.
The Cardinals finished their 2022 season with an overall mark of 8-5 (4-4 in ACC), including a 24-7 win in the Fenway Bowl over Cincinnati. They'll kick off their 2023 season against Georgia tech in the Chick-Fil-A Kickoff Classic at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Ga. on Friday, Sept. 1.
