New name, no problem

A new name didn't change the way Louisville football's starting quarterback played. He finished with his best performance in a Cardinal uniform.
Micale Cunningham, who had gone by Malik, decided he wanted to return to his given first name. Malik is Cunningham's middle name, but he had used his middle name because it's easier to say.
"Micale is my first name, but people can't pronounce it," Cunningham said. "Every time I go to class they call me 'Michele' or some weird name or 'Michael' so I just went with Malik."
Cunningham said he responds to both names.
Whether he was called Micale or Malik, Cunningham did plenty of damage against Boston College. He completed 13 of 18 throws for 288 yards and a touchdown while rushing for 43 yards and a score.
Cunningham exited in the fourth quarter, but Louisville coach Scott Satterfield didn't think it was a serious injury.
