LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The June recruiting momentum for the Louisville football program continues to press onward.

Fred Johnson, a Class of 2024 offensive lineman who plays for Cleveland (Oh.) Glenville, announced Sunday that he has given his verbal pledge to the Cardinals.

He is the third prospect in the 2024 cycle to commit to Louisville this month, joining running back Duke Watson and safety Jaiden Spearman, who both committed last week after taking official visits. Like Watson and Spearman last weekend, Johnson is also coming off of an official visit, and was one of 13 prospects on campus this weekend.

The 6-foot-5, 287 pound lineman, who plays both guard and tackle, ranks as high as the No. 49 offensive tackle in the class and the No. 38 prospect in the state of Ohio, according to On3's in house ranking. Johnson comes in as the No. 881 recruit in the cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking.

Johnson's might not have an extremely high national recruiting ranking, but he has generated a fair amount of high major interest. He chose Louisville over held offers from Michigan, Penn State, Tennessee, Pitt, Michigan State, Kentucky and others. He took an official visit to Kentucky the weekend before, and had a visit to Pitt lined up for next weekend prior to committing to Louisville.

Louisville now sports a 11-man recruiting class in the 2024 cycle with Johnson's commitment. He is the third offensive line prospect to give his verbal pledge to the Cardinals so far, joining Noblesville (Ind.) HS tackle Ransom McDermott and Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage tackle Jimmy Williams.
