LOUISVILLE, Ky. - With a potential berth to the ACC Championship and a double-digit home winning streak on the line, the Louisville football program was able to mount a fourth quarter comeback and avoid a massive upset, rallying past Virginia for a 31-24 victory.

Team Notes:

  • Louisville improves to 7-5 in the all-time series vs. Virginia, including 5-1 in Louisville and 4-1 at L&N Stadium.
  • The Cards rise to 9-1 overall and 6-1 in conference play, both marks last achieved in 2016.
  • Louisville's home winning streak stretches to 11 games, tied for second longest in program history and longest since 2003-07.
  • Jeff Brohm earns his 75th career win.
  • Louisville holds Virginia scoreless in the first half to extend its streak of not allowing a touchdown to 10 quarters, the Cards' longest streak since 1972.
  • Louisville completes passes to 11 different receivers.
  • Louisville has four sacks to log its third straight game and fifth game in the last seven with at least four sacks.
  • Louisville forces an interception on the opponent's first drive of the second half for the third straight game.
  • Louisville wins its 19th straight game over the past five seasons when shutting out its opponent in the first quarter.
  • Louisville had its first blocked punt return for a touchdown since 2013.
  • Louisville clinches at least a share of second place in the ACC and can clinch a spot in the ACC Championship game with a win at Miami on Nov. 18 or with a loss by North Carolina or losses by both Virginia Tech and Boston College.

Player Notes:

  • RB Isaac Guerendo rushed for 94 yards on six carries, scoring on a career-long 73-yard run. He added a 21-yard reception.
  • RB Jawhar Jordan rushed for 95 yards on 17 carries, including a 42-yard run to the Virginia 10-yard line to set up Louisville's first touchdown. He added two receptions for 15 yards.
  • WR Ahmari Huggins-Bruce had one reception, scoring on a 52-yard pass from to tie the game at 24-24 in the fourth quarter.
  • WR Jadon Thompson made his first career start and had two receptions for 27 yards.
  • WR Jimmy Calloway scored the first touchdown of his Louisville career by recovering a blocked punt in the end zone. He added two receptions for 27 yards.
  • TE Joey Gatewood scored his second touchdown of the season on a four-yard pass from for Louisville's first score of the game.
  • QB Jack Plummer completed 19 of 28 passes for 243 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. He was sacked twice for 9 yards.
  • S Devin Neal led the defense with a career-high 11 tackles, including a career-high eight solo tackles.
    • Neal had his fourth interception of the season along with a pass breakup.
    • Neal is the first Cardinal to have four interceptions in a season since Trumaine Washington had four in 2017.
  • S Benjamin Perry matched his career high with eight tackles and had a career-high 1.5 tackles for loss.
  • DL Ashton Gillotte had 1.5 sacks to take his season total to 10 and added seven tackles, two tackles for loss, and a quarterback hurry on Virginia's last play of the game to force an incomplete pass and turnover on downs, securing Louisville's victory.
  • DL Jared Dawson had a career-high 1.5 sacks to go with three tackles.
  • LB Antonio Watts had his first career sack and first career forced fumble to go with two tackles for loss.
  • DB Cam'Ron Kelly had his second forced fumble of the season to go with seven tackles and a shared tackle for loss.
  • DB D'Angelo Hutchinson blocked a punt for the Cards' first blocked punt since 2018.
