LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville football program's red-hot recruiting efforts in the portal continue to press onwards, this time flipping an already committed transfer.

Jordan Guerad, a defensive lineman who spent the first three years of his collegiate career at Florida International, announced Saturday that he has committed to the Cardinals. He had previously been committed to Minnesota, giving his verbal pledge to the Hoosiers this past Sunday before flipping.

He's the third portal commitment for Louisville in the last 24-hours, following the commitments of former Alabama wide receiver Ja'Corey Brooks and former UCF cornerback Corey Thornton on Friday night.

The 6-foot-3, 295-pound defensive tackle was one of the best linemen at the Group of Five level this past season. Playing in all 12 games for the Panthers while starting all but two, Guerad finished with 38 total tackle, 7.0 for loss, 2.0 sacks and a forced fumble. He not only earned First-Team All-Conference USA honors, but with a Pro Football Focus grade of 83.3, he was the sixth-highest rated interior defensive lineman in the Group of Five.

The Valrico, Fla. native was also a key piece on the FIU defensive line the season in 2022 after seeing minimal playing time as a true freshman in 2021. In 27 career games for the Panthers, Guerad has logged 84 total tackles, 13.0 for loss, 5.0 sacks and a forced fumble.

While the Louisville defensive line does lose Jermayne Lole and Stephen Herron to graduation, this area of the field looks to be a massive strength for the Cardinals in 2024. They not only bring back All-American edge rusher Ashton Gillotte, they are bringing in FCS All-American tackle Thor Griffith from Harvard, while also returning key players such as Mason Reiger, Dezmond Tell and Ramon Puryear.

Guerad is the eighth player to transfer to Louisville in this cycle, and the third lineman following Griffith and offensive tackle Jonathan Mendoza. The Cardinals have also seen nine scholarship players enter the portal since the winter transfer window opened on Dec. 4.

He is expected to sign on Dec. 20 for the first day of the early signing period. Louisville went 10-2 during the regular season with a berth in the ACC Championship Game under first year head coach Jeff Brohm, and are preparing for their Holiday Bowl matchup with USC on Dec. 27.
