LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville football program is still in the midst of finishing up their 2024 recruiting class, and their recruiting momentum is starting to carry over into the next cycle.

Mason Mims, a quarterback hailing from Oxford (Ala.) HS, announced Friday that he has given his verbal pledge to to Cardinals. He choose Louisville over held offers from Pitt, Mississippi State and others, and is the first commitment in the Class of 2025 for the Cardinals.

Mims’ recruitment to Louisville escalated quickly over the last couple months. He took an official visit during the Cardinals’ win over Notre Dame back on Oct. 7, and he was officially extended a scholarship offer two weeks later.

The 6-foot-3, 220-pound signal caller ranks as the No. 21 recruit in the state of Alabama, the No. 34 quarterback in the Class of 2025, and the No. 478 prospect in the nation according to the 247Sports Composite.

Mims has had an extremely efficient junior campaign for Oxford. He has completed 205 of his 288 passing attempts for a 71.2 completion percentage, while also throwing for 2,670 yards and 29 touchdowns to just three interceptions. Mims helped guide the Yellow Jackets to a 9-3 record.

In the more immediate recruiting cycle, Louisville holds commitments from 15 prospects, including two preferred walk-ons. The early signing period for the Class of 2024 starts on Dec. 20.
