Report: Purdue Transfer DE/OLB Nic Scourton to Visit Louisville

The Boilermakers edge rusher led the Big Ten in sacks this season, and was recruiting by the current Cardinals staff while at Purdue.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - One of the top available transfers in the portal and a player that is very familiar with the Louisville football program's current staff will soon be on campus.

Nic Scourton, a defensive end/outside linebacker who spent the first two years of his collegiate career at Purdue, will be taking an official visit to the Cardinals next week, according to On3's Pete Nakos. He will be visiting Louisville on Jan. 4, along with a visit to Florida State the day before.

The 6-foot-4, 280-pound edge rusher was one of the most dominant lineman in the Big Ten this season, leading the conference in sacks and earning Second-Team All-Big Ten honors. Starting 11 games for the Boilermakers, only missing one game due to injury, Scourton collected 10.0 sacks and 15.0 tackles for loss, along with 50 total tackles and a forced fumble.

A native of Bryan, Texas, Scourton was recruited to Purdue by now Louisville head coach Jeff Brohm and co-defensive coordinator Mark Hagen. During his true freshman campaign in 2022, he logged 22 tackles, 2.0 for loss, 2.0 sacks and a forced fumble.

As of Dec. 28, Scourton is regarded as the fourth-best uncommitted player in the transfer portal and the No. 10 overall player to enter the portal in this cycle, according to On3.

Louisville has landed 16 players through the transfer portal so far in this cycle, while also seeing nine players depart and transfer elsewhere. They currently possess the No. 1 transfer portal class in the cycle, according to On3.

The Cardinals finished their 2023 season with an overall mark of 10-4 (7-1 in ACC) including a berth in the program's first ever ACC Championship Game, but ended year one under head coach Jeff Brohm on a three-game losing streak.
