LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The very first fall camp for the Louisville football program under new head coach Jeff Brohm is progressing at a rapid pace. The Cardinals kicked off their 2023 preseason last week, and got their second week of camp started on Monday.

When discussing the offense's capabilities under year one of Brohm, a lot of the discussion centers around either new starting quarterback Jack Plummer or the plethora of offensive skill positions. However, the offensive line will be just as important.

"I think the O-line's coming out and working hard," offensive line coach Richard Owens said. "We're throwing a lot at them early, and they're getting better. We're progressing. We're not where we need to be right now, but they are making strides and they're moving forward in the right direction."

Louisville brings back three starters on line in preseason All-ACC center Bryan Hudson, plus tackles Michael Gonzalez and Renato Brown. The Cardinals added multiple quality pieces through the portal and from the high school ranks, such as tackles Eric Miller and Willie Tyler, and guard John Paul Flores.

"It's one day at a time, one period of time," Miller said. "We're trying to get a lot of new guys to understand a pretty complex system. There's some good and some bad, and we're gonna continue to build and the stack days. I've got to be better, the whole group we got to continue to watch film and to treat every opportunity with with the utmost urgency. There's only so many times, so many reps we got left. It's coming along, but we got to continue to get better.

Following the Cardinals' fifth practice of fall camp on Monday, Owens, Eric Miller and Michael Gonzalez took time to meet with the media. They discussed the first week of camp and the unit's overall progression, how the influx of post-spring newcomers have impacted competition, the leadership of Hudson and more.
