Louisville DE Ashton Gillotte, RB Jawhar Jordan Earn All-American Honors from Phil Steele

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville defensive end Ashton Gillotte and running back Jawhar Jordan have both earned All-American honors from Phil Steele, the publication announced Thursday.

Gillotte was tabbed as a Third-Team selection, while Jordan earned an honorable mention. This is the first All-American this season for Jordan, and the sixth for Gillotte. He was named a Second Team All-American by The Athletic, Sports Illustated, USA Today and Walter Camp, and an honorable mention by CBS Sports.

Over the course of the 2023 season, Gillotte was not only the most impactful defender for Louisville, he was one of the top defensive linemen in all of college football.

Starting all 12 regular season games plus the ACC Championship Game against Florida State, the 6-foot-3, 270-pound star edge rusher collected 14.5 tackles for loss, 11.0 sacks, three forced fumbles and 45.0 tackles overall.

His sack total led the ACC, was good for eighth in the FBS, and is currently ninth on the single-season sack list in Louisville history. Per Pro Football Focus, his 40 quarterback hurries is good for fifth in the FBS.

Despite being limited by a nagging hamstring injury in the second half of the season, Jordan still finished as one of the top running backs in the ACC. The 5-foot-9, 172-pound all-purpose back ran for 1,128 yards and 13 touchdowns on 181 rushes, while also catching 21 passes out of the backfield for 246 yards and a touchdown.

Jordan's rushing total and 1,374 yards from scrimmage ranked second in the ACC behind UNC's Omarion Hampton, while his rushing and total touchdowns were third behind Hampton and FSU's Trey Benson. He also became the 23rd player in program history to log a 1,000-yard rushing season, and the first since Javian Hawkins in 2019.

Louisville will conclude their 2023 season later this month with a matchup against USC in the Holiday Bowl. Jordan has opted out of the bowl and declared for the NFL Draft, while Gillotte will play and return for the 2024 season.

Kickoff against the Trojans is set for Wednesday, Dec. 27 at 8:00 p.m. EST from Petco Park in San Diego, Calif.
