Scoreboard Watching: Games to Track During Louisville's Bye Week

In this story:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Another college football Saturday is here! But unfortunately for fans of the Louisville football program, they'll have to wait until next weekend to see the Cardinals take the field, as they're on their lone bye week of the season.
While Louisville (6-1, 3-1 ACC) is not in action this weekend, there are still plenty of games around college football involving future and past Cardinals opponents. This will give fans both a glimpse into the future of what to expect, and perhaps a team to pull for in hopes of boosting Louisville's strength of schedule.
Here are a few games Louisville fans should keep tabs on this weekend:
Boston College (3-3, 1-2 ACC) at Georgia Tech (3-3, 2-1 ACC)
Channel: ACC Network at 12:00 p.m. EST
Future Date/Past Result: Louisville defeated Boston College 56-28 on Saturday, Sept. 23; Louisville defeated Georgia Tech 39-34 on Friday, Sept. 1.
This matchup might not seem super intriguing beyond the fanbases of the teams in question, but it's a low-key fascinating one if you're a Louisville fan. Boston College has won two close games in a row since getting blown out by the Cardinals, and Georgia Tech is coming off and bye week and most recently took down Miami in their own building.
BC's Thomas Castellanos and GT's Haynes King are two of the more underrated quarterbacks in the ACC, and it could serve as the basis for a somewhat entertaining game. It's hard to determine which one to cheer for if you're a Louisville fan considering the Cardinals already beat both of these teams, so just enjoy the football here.
Pitt (2-4, 1-2 ACC) at Wake Forest (3-3, 0-3 ACC)
Channel: ACC Network at 3:30 p.m. EST
Future Date/Past Result: Pitt defeated Louisville 38-21 on Saturday, Oct. 14.
Well, unfortunately Louisville now finds themselves in the precarious position of having to cheer for Pitt the rest of the way for SOS purposes. Considering the Panthers are still very much in the bottom half of the ACC, this might not be a fun endeavor moving forward.
That being said, Wake Forest is almost as bad, and have been sputtering ever since league play started with three straight losses. Demon Deacons QB Mitch Griffis has struggled mightily and Pitt still has a good defense, so we'll see if new Panthers signal caller Christina Veilleux can continue being a spark plug for their offense.
Virginia (1-5, 0-2 ACC) at No. 10 North Carolina (6-0, 3-0 ACC)
Channel: CW Network at 6:30 p.m. EST
Future Date/Past Result: Louisville hosts Virginia on Thursday, Nov. 9.
I wont' spend too much time here. This is a game you should only turn to if the previous game ended early and the next game hasn't started yet. Virginia is one of the worst teams in the Power Five and struggled to beat William & Mary, and North Carolina is is prime position to potentially challenge Florida State for the ACC after their big win over Miami. The Tar Heels should take down the Cavaliers by at least three scores.
No. 16 Duke (5-1, 2-0 ACC) at No. 4 Florida State (6-0, 4-0 ACC)
Channel: ABC at 7:30 p.m. EST
Future Date/Past Result: Louisville hosts Duke on Saturday, Oct. 28.
If Penn State-Ohio State wasn't a top ten matchup, this might have been the College GameDay game. This matchup has long-term ramifications for the ACC title race, and the victor here will control their own destiny when it comes to getting to Charlotte.
The game might not have the intrigue that it could considering Duke QB Riley Leonard is still day-to-day with an ankle injury, but the Blue Devils' skill position players and their defense - specially their cornerback duo - are still top tier. Then you have Florida State, who has a plethora of talent on both sides of the field, including Heisman Trophy candidate QB Jordan Travis.
Pulling off the upset in Tallahassee will be no easy feat, but FSU has looked susceptible at times this season. If Duke is able to do it, next week's matchup at Louisville has potential to be the biggest college football game of the weekend.
Clemson (4-2, 2-2 ACC) at Miami (4-2, 0-2 ACC)
Channel: ABC at 7:30 p.m. EST
Future Date/Past Result: Louisville travels to Miami on Saturday, Nov. 18.
On paper, this matchup is up there in terms of the most talent on a single football field across college football this weekend. Of course, games aren't played on paper.
Clemson's fall from the top of the ACC has been well documented, and Miami is on a two-game skid thanks in part to some bone-headed coaching. These are still two very good and very talented teams and it should make for an entertaining game, but both squads have most certainly underachieved up to this point. We'll see if Dabo Swinney or Mario Cristobal makes more mistakes.
