Watch: Ryan Wallace, Louisville Tight Ends Talk Spring Practice

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - As quickly as it started, spring practice for the Louisville football program is almost in the books.
The Cardinals kicked off spring ball back in mid-March, and have just one more week of practice sessions left. Spring ball will conclude on Friday, Apr 21st with the first spring game under new head coach Jeff Brohm.
"I was ecstatic," new tight ends coach Ryan Wallace said when asked about Brohm wanting him to follow him from Purdue to Louisville. "I've been fortunate enough to spend six years with Purdue, it's an offense that I love coaching in. The chance to do that at this place, back home, was awesome. I couldn't be more happy."
For Wallace's position group, things have been quite different than it has been in the past. The tight ends are transitioning to a system where they were mainly utilized as blockers, to one where they will play a crucial role in the passing game.
"They're doing well," Wallace said when asked about the tight ends' progression through sprign ball. "They're coming along. Obviously, it's gonna be a process with the amount of different routes that we're going to ask them to run, and all that. We're working every day, and those guys have improved."
Following Monday's practice, Wallace plus tight ends Francis Sherman and Duane Martin took time to meet with the media. They discussed spring ball up to this point, the transition from the old offensive system to the new one, the competition during spring, the younger tight ends, and more.
