LSU Basketball: Tigers Host Kansas State Transfer Cam Carter For Official Visit

Carter made his way to Baton Rouge on Thursday, visited with Matt McMahon and Co.

LSU hosted Kansas State transfer Cam Carter for a visit to Baton Rouge on Thursday, sources confirmed to LSU Country.

Carter, a prized shooting guard in the NCAA Transfer Portal, also posted a photo via Instagram during his trip down South.

The Donaldsonville, La. native has been well-traveled during his basketball journey. Carter departed Louisiana during high school to attend the prestigious Oak Hill Academy on the East coast.

Following his prep career, he then committed to Mississippi State for his freshman campaign in Starkville before transferring to Kansas State.

Carter then played two seasons with the Wildcats and has now entered the Transfer Portal for a second time.

Now, with one season of eligibility remaining, Carter is looking for a new home for his final season of college ball with LSU giving their pitch during Thursday's visit.

The Tigers are in need of a bucket-getting guard for the 2024 season and Carter could be the answer if McMahon and Co. win out for his services.

The electric scorer averaged 14.6 points per game last season for Kansas State, and at 6-foot-3, provides solid size for a guard.

LSU continues taking strides in the right direction under McMahon, but after losing several veterans this offseason, it'll be a battle to rebuild the roster once again.

Carter is the first prospect the Tigers have hosted for a visit as this program begins hitting the Transfer Portal with force this offseason.

LSU finished the 2023-24 season with a 9-9 record in the SEC as McMahon continues bringing LSU back to the standard in Baton Rouge.

“I think you look at last year, I believe Arkansas went to the Sweet 16. They were the 10 seed in this tournament last year. So I think that speaks to the depth of the league,” McMahon said. “It’s the number one offensive rebounding league in the country. It’s the number one league in the country when it comes to blocking shots. I think that speaks to the athleticism and physicality around the basket. I think the league this year, just so much better offensively. Teams shoot it much better from behind the three-point line. You have offenses that are putting up a hundred on a regular basis. It’s just an elite league top to bottom.”

LSU Country will have the latest on LSU's Transfer Portal targets and where things stand with Carter following his trip to town.
