LSU WBB: Kim Mulkey, LSU Set Visit Date With Top Transfer Guard Ruby Whitehorn

The Tigers will get Clemson transfer Ruby Whitehorn in Baton Rouge this month, locks in visit date.

Kim Mulkey remains active on the recruiting trail with her program navigating a busy offseason, and after an Elite Eight finish, LSU has lofty goals next year.

Now, the Tigers are hitting the NCAA Transfer Portal with force as they look to bolster their roster for the 2024-25 season.

Mulkey and Co. have been in contact with several high-profile targets, but now they will get a visitor in town.

LSU will bring in Clemson transfer Ruby Whitehorn for an official visit to Baton Rouge on April 26-27, sources tell LSU Country.

The top target for LSU, this program is locked in on securing her services and getting the prized target in the purple and gold next season. Now, they'll their their crack at the sought-after transfer.

After a visit to Florida State last weekend, LSU will get the next visit with her intentions of making in to Baton Rouge for a trip.

Whitehorn averaged 12.3 points and 5.6 rebounds for the Tigers during her second season with Clemson and LSU clearly sees the former five-star recruit as a piece to this rotation if able to land her services.

A no-contact transfer, Whitehorn will be in control of her process as she navigates her recruitment, but LSU is making their push here with both parties in contact.

Mulkey and the Tigers added former Arkansas forward Jersey Wolfenbarger via the NCAA Transfer Portal last month. A five-star, McDonald's All-American out of high school, LSU brings in a player with tremendous upside next year.

“Having recruited Jersey out of high school, I am very familiar with the skillset she brings to Baton Rouge,” Coach Mulkey said. “She will bring size to our frontcourt combined with the ability to stretch the floor with her perimeter game. I can’t wait to get Jersey to Baton Rouge and get to work!”

Wolfenbarger played two seasons at Arkansas before sitting this year out with the intention to enter the transfer portal. The Fort Smith, Arkansas native played in 65 games as a Razorback and averaged 5.6 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. She comes to LSU with two remaining years of eligibility.

“Coach Mulkey and her staff offered me a second chance to turn my dreams into reality,” Wolfenbarger said. “That’s an opportunity you can’t say no to.”

During her sophomore season, she had two double-digit scoring games, eight 6+ rebound contests and three games with 3+ blocks. She averaged 3.9 points and 3.3 rebounds. Wolfenbarger was named the SEC All-Freshman team the year prior, averaging 7.6 points and  4.3 rebounds per game. She recorded two double-doubles as a freshman.

Wolfenbarger, who stands at 6-5, was a top recruit coming out of Northside High School as a consensus five-star prospect. She was rated as the top wing player in her class and the No. 7 player overall by ESPN HoopGurlz. She earned a spot on the McDonald’s All-America team and was a finalist for Naismith High School Player of the Year. Wolfenbarger hit a buzzer beater to win the 2019 6A State Championship and then led Northside to a 26-2 record and a Class 6A State Championship in 2020-21.

Now, it's about adding more depth to an already talented roster headlined by Aneesah Morrow, Flau'jae Johnson and Mikaylah Williams, who return for the 2024-25 season with lofty goals.
