Recruiting Update 2.0: Who Could Be Next For LSU Football?

The Tigers have landed four pledges in 10 days, but which domino could fall next for this program?

The Tigers are heating up on the recruiting trail after securing their fourth commitment in 10 days with Natchitoches (La.) offensive lineman Joseph Cryer revealing his pledge to LSU on Monday.

Brian Kelly and Co. flipped the Ole Miss commitment in a matter of days after offering the fast-rising prospect on Wednesday, July 26.

Now, he joins Ory Williams, Khayree Lee and Ethan Calloway as the four offensive linemen to pledge to the purple and gold in the 2024 cycle.

After Williams committed on Sunday and Cryer followed on Monday, the two joined four-star linebacker Tylen Singleton and four-star cornerback Cai Bates as the most recent pledges to the program.

Four commitments in 10 days. The Tigers are in the midst of a monstrous run on the trail with no signs of slowing down.

Who could be next for this program?

A look into three guys who could be trending LSU’s way on “The Trail”.

Caden Durham - 2024 Running Back Target

Four-star running back Caden Durham has been the talk of the town over the last few weeks. The lone running back LSU is recruiting in the 2024 cycle, it’s been full steam ahead for the Duncanville (Tex.) superstar.

Durham had originally set a commitment date for August 25, but after a four-day stay in Baton Rouge, he decided to move the decision date up.

Durham arrived in Baton Rouge on Thursday and remained in town until Sunday alongside teammate, and five-star EDGE, Colin Simmons.

On Sunday, the coveted running back released his Top 3 schools with LSU joining Texas A&M and Oklahoma as the finalists.

With a decision date being moved, it could be good news for the Tigers as they begin trending for their No. 1 running back target.

JD LaFleur - 2025 Tight End

The Sulphur (La.) native received an offer from the Tigers over the summer after a stellar camp showing and could look to end the recruitment process sooner rather than later.

An LSU legacy, his father David LaFleur was an All-American tight end for the Tigers in the 90’s. Now, his son could be up next in the purple and gold.

The son of a first round NFL Draft pick, [JD] LaFleur already attains the size this program is looking for at the tight end position. The 6-foot-6, 220-pounder towers over his competition as just a rising junior.

A 2025 target, LaFleur has time to make his decision, but the Tigers are certainly trending for the Louisiana native as his offer lists continues growing with Florida, Miami and Texas Tech, among others, getting involved in the process.

Jelani Watkins - 2024 Wide Receiver

The Houston (Tex.) native has kept his recruitment process close to the vest, but the Tigers continue getting the four-star wide receiver to campus.

In what has the makings of being an LSU vs. Texas A&M battle down the stretch, this program has its foot on the gas.

Watkins made his way over to Baton Rouge for the Bayou Splash event on Friday, but also took a visit to Texas A&M over the weekend before the recruiting dead period starts up again on Tuesday.

It’s been stated that Watkins will look to shut down the process before his senior year where it’s a battle for the stud wideout. For now, Watkins could be trending LSU’s way, but it’ll be a fight for his services over the next few weeks.
