For the Miami Hurricanes, there are multiple prospects that newly hired running backs coach Tim Harris, Jr. could make a priority.

Some of that depends on whether the Canes settle on taking one or two running backs. Then again, that factor may be dictated by which second running back wants to sign with Miami.

Here’s a look at some of the 2024 running back prospects From Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties that will be recruited by many programs, including some by the Hurricanes.

The following list is in alphabetical order.

Khamani Alexander, 6-0, 180, Miami (Fla.) Belen Jesuit

Playing in the wing-t offense, Alexander has hit some long runs for Belen Jesuit. He has shown he’s capable of quickly changing direction and making defenders miss, and then hitting the gas and taking it the distance.

He’s still somewhat under-recruited. He's very talented though, and a prospect that should see his stock rise.

Patrick Anderson, Jr., 5-10, 180, Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Cardinal Gibbons

Gibbons has tight end Colton Heinrich that’s being courted by the Canes, and he may not be the only prospect that ends up with Power 5 offers. Anderson has a shot to play running back or another skill position in college.

Isaac Brown, 5-9, 180, Homestead (Fla.) High School

Speed and elusiveness. That’s what made Brown an attractive prospect for many teams. Brown already picked Louisville, but Miami and many others will not just go away.

Chauncey Bowens, 5-11, 220, Palm Beach (Fla.) The Benjamin School

Committed to Florida and still being recruited by programs across the nation, Bowens has become one of the hottest recruits in Florida and beyond.

He’s a rare combination of NFL size combined with soft hands. Harris was recruiting Bowens while at UCF, and it’s hard to see the Canes not going after the Palm Beach County star recruit.

Stacy Gage, 5-11, 205, Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Saint Thomas Aquinas

After having moved down to South Florida from Tampa, Gage joins another very talented team for the Raiders. Most often known for being at his best when he’s running downhill and between the tackles, Gage’s Under Armour Combine performance showed how he’s a capable receiver out of the backfield, too.

Oklahoma, Ohio State, Florida and USC are teams to watch, and he’s also interested in visiting Miami based on comments from a month ago.

Davion Gause, 5-11, 205, Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna

Gause jumped on the opportunity to commit to North Carolina this past Monday. He’s a player coach Harris has been familiar with from the time he spent at UCF.

While he’s committed to the Tar Heels, it’s still a good bet Miami continues to recruit Gause.

Jordan Lyle, 6-0, 180, Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Saint Thomas Aquinas

Lyle has seen his recruiting stock rise considerably since last fall. Alabama, Miami, Georgia, Florida, Florida State, and many others have been after him.

Not much has been said about his recruitment lately, but he’s truly one of the more explosive running backs in South Florida. Look for the Canes to recruit him hard.

Gerald Modest, Jr., 6-0, 180, Miami (Fla.) Booker T. Washington

A true athlete, Modest has been a talented running back during his prep career, but he’s also seen success as a receiver during the seven-on-seven circuit. He could be a versatile recruit that Miami goes after as an athlete because of his versatile skill set.

If Miami decided to go with two running back recruits, Modest would be intriguing because he could help not only as a running back, but he's capable of helping in the slot or out wide.

Antwan Smith, Jr., 6-0, 215, Miami (Fla.) Booker T. Washington

Smith was a bulldozer for the Tornadoes last fall, rushing for 1,530 yards, averaging 8.5 yards per tote, and scoring 21 touchdowns. His north-south running style fits what Cristobal has incorporated in the past.

It's surprising that he has not seen more recruiting attention to date. Smith could be a prospect that blows up at some point this summer or fall.

Chris Wheatley-Humphrey, 6-0, 180, Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) South Broward

A true home run threat each time he places the football under his arm, Wheatley-Humphrey can be an impact recruit at the next level. Miami and a host of other programs have offered this young man. He’s earned the opportunity to be considered one of Florida’s best prospects.

Also of note, a running back like Joshua Collie from Miami (Fla.) Edison, as well as many other running backs, could emerge as top targets. As usual, South Florida has a plethora of top running back options for the Canes to recruit from.
