On National Signing Day, the Miami Hurricanes just signed one of the most versatile 2024 Alabama prep football players.

Cameron Pruitt

Size: 6-foot-3, 190 pounds

Position: Linebacker

High School: Theodore (Ala.) High School

Recruitment: Among the teams Miami beat out for Pruitt would be Alabama, LSU, Ole Miss, Florida, Texas A&M, Tennesse, Penn State, Notre Dame, and Missouri. From the schools that went after Pruitt, it's interesting that he took an unofficial visit to LSU right before his June official visit to Miami (June 10). That would be Pruitt's first, and last, official visit.

Strengths: Pruitt's sideline-to-sideline pursuit of the football usually comes with unpleasant greetings when he arrives at the ball carrier. Some football players will swing down a ball carrier, but Pruitt goes through the opposition's chest; he's old-school. He stays low, coils, then explodes through his hips to create contact. He has an additional skill attached to his tackling talents.

Pruitt's ability to maneuver in and out of traffic – during screen plays – allows him to make big hits and limit yards. He's one of the most instinctive players a scout can watch.

Areas to Improve: Just add size and watch Pruitt become better and better. He will likely grow into at least a hybrid linebacker, but he could also play some safety for the Canes. Hard to say with his current size. Adding muscle mass while keeping his top-end speed and flexibility is key regardless of Pruitt's future weight.

Pruitt has tracked the ball carrier throughout his high school career and will get even better with added size from the Miami strength and conditioning program. When pitted against a big offensive lineman in high school, he has not backed down either. Additionally, during open-field tackling situations, Pruitt has shown a propensity for making plays against talented athletes. This young man brings a lot of talent and upside to The U.

Pruitt is an example of the great Miami linebackers of old who utilized speed to win the majority of the battles that took place. His hitting ability is reminiscent of those linebackers as well.
