Trio Of Potential Wolverines Visiting This Weekend
Head coach Dusty May is hosting several transfer portal targets this weekend including three who might be considered Michigan leans.
Michigan basketball is basically getting a complete reboot and Dusty May has been tasked with the daunting project. The new head coach has hired three assistants who are all considered young, up-and-coming and great recruiters. Now, it's about getting some ballers onto the roster so that the product on the court next year is something the staff can be proud of. Some dominos could fall this weekend as a trio of very realistic targets will be on campus.
C - Vladislav Goldin
Goldin obviously played for May at Florida Atlantic and would likely have a smooth transition to Michigan because of it. He's a true, back-to-the-basket center at 7-1, 240 pounds and excels as an inside scorer and rebounder. Unsurprisingly at his size, he's also proven to be a decent shot blocker. If he picks the Wolverines, he will likely be the starting center out of the gate and for the entire season next year.
F - Trey Townsend
Townsend is an interesting target for the Wolverines as a Michigan native and a college hooper at nearby Oakland University. The veteran forward has played a lot of ball while at Oakland. Since arriving on campus, Townsend started all 129 of his college career. He averaged 16.5 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game in 2022-23, earning second-team All-Horizon League honors. At 6-6, 228 pounds, he has a big strong body and really can do a bit of everything. At a place like Michigan he could be a perfect sixth man given that he can play multiple positions and do a bit of everything. Of course, that depends on who else May can land.
F - Danny Wolf
Don't let the 7-foot, 250-pound frame fool you — Wolf is a very skilled big and is rightfully labeled as a forward. He can handle the ball, creat space, hit stepback jumpers and knock down three pointers with enough consistency to trust him out there. He spent two years at Yale where his production really took off this past this season where he was a first-team All-Ivy League selection after leading the Bulldogs with 14.1 points and 9.7 rebounds per game. He added 2.4 assists, 1.3 blocks, and one steal per game while shooting 47% from the field. He also shot 35% from three-point range on 83 attempts. If he and Goldin both commit to the Wolverines, they would make for an extremely formidable front court.
