Michigan Suspends Denard Robinson Indefinitely For Alleged OWI

Denard Robinson has been suspended by the Wolverines following his recent arrest.

During the early hours of Monday morning, Michigan assistant director of player personnel Denard Robinson was arrested for allegedly operating a vehicle while intoxicated (OWI) after being involved in a single-car accident. This incident marks OWI arrest No. 2 for the football program after former defensive line coach Greg Scruggs was arrested on March 16 for a similar infraction. Scruggs later resigned from his position at Michigan, whereas Robinson has been suspended indefinitely as the situation develops.

Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore released a statement about the incident on Monday:

”We are aware of the incident involving Denard Robinson and have suspended him indefinitely,” Moore said in a statement. “We will continue to monitor the situation and will have no further comment at this time.”

Robinson, who was a legendary quarterback during his playing days in Ann Arbor, joined the U-M coaching staff in 2022 during Jim Harbaugh’s regime. When coach Harbaugh accepted his job coaching the Los Angeles Chargers this offseason, coach Moore decided to keep Robinson within the program as a staffer.

In his short time leading the Michigan program, coach Moore has been forced to run damage control more often than he’d like, first addressing the Scruggs incident and now this. Currently, it is unclear if Robinson will remain with the program long term.
