Just In: Blake Corum And J.J. McCarthy Received First-Place Votes In Heisman Voting

In this story:
It was announced on Saturday night that LSU's quarterback Jayden Daniels won the 2023 Heisman Trophy. He beat out Michael Penix Jr, Bo Nix, and Marvin Harrison Jr. for the award.
On Friday night, it was revealed that Michigan had two players finish in the top 10 for Heisman votes. Running back Blake Corum finished ninth and quarterback J.J. McCarthy finished 10th.
After the award ceremony ended, the Heisman Trophy ballot was revealed and it might have come a little shocking that both Corum and McCarthy received first-place votes.
According to the ballot, Corum had three first-place votes, two second-place votes, and 15 third-place votes.
McCarthy had one first-place vote, seven second-place votes, and four third-place votes.
Corum didn't put up the stats like the finalists did, but he does lead the nation in rushing touchdowns. He has 24 this season which set the single-season touchdown record at Michigan. Corum also has 1,028 yards on the ground and he averaged 4.7 yards per carry during the 2023 regular season.
McCarthy, who had one first-place vote, definitely didn't have the stats like Daniels, Penix Jr, or Nix had in 2023, but he did everything Michigan asked of him to do. He was the second-most accurate passer in football -- behind Nix -- completing 74.2% of his throws. McCarthy passed for 2,630 yards, 19 touchdowns, and just four interceptions during the 2023 season.
Both Corum and McCarthy can still add to their stats by playing in the College Football Playoff. The Wolverines will take on Alabama in the first round on Jan. 1.
