In this story:

Michigan weathered the storm on Saturday. The Wolverines entered Happy Valley without their head coach who was suspended on Friday afternoon and left with a major victory.

The Wolverines moved to 10-0 on the season after beating Penn State 24-15 during a top-10 showdown.

Michigan went full service academy style in the second half and ran the ball 32 consecutive times to beat Penn State. J.J. McCarthy attempted just eight passes -- while completing seven of them -- in the game. He didn't attempt one pass in the second half.

The Wolverines beat Penn State by running the football and winning the trenches. Michigan got Drew Allar flustered and the Nittany Lions didn't have much to combat the Wolverines' defense.

Here are my Michigan players of the game from Saturday.

 Offense:

RB Blake Corum: Corum continues to chase Anthony Thomas to become the Michigan running back with the most rushing touchdowns in program history. The senior back scored twice on Saturday and deflated the then-No. 2 rushing defense. Corum ended the day with 145 yards on the ground and reminded people just how good he is.

RB Donovan Edwards: Donovan Edwards was very efficient against Penn State and had good vision to find the hole when it opened. Dono took a handoff on third-and-11 in the second quarter and took it 22 yards to the house. This was arguably Edwards best performance and it came at a great time. Edwards finished the day with 52 yards and a score.

Offensive Line: The O-line looked shaky, mainly on the right side, early in the game. The Penn State pass rush looked to be too much for Michigan and the Wolverines' run game got off to a shaky start. But toward the end of the second quarter and into the second half, the Michigan O-line dominated the trenches. Again, Michigan ran it 32 consecutive times and the Wolverines were able to gain 227 yards on the ground against a premier run defense.

Defense:

DT Kenneth Grant: Kenneth Grant was the leader in the trenches on Saturday. It felt like he got the interior line going and the Wolverines were tremendous against the Penn State O-line. Grant finished the game with four tackles. Three of them came stuffing the runner at the line and the other -- he showed how athletic he is. Penn State running back Kaytron Allen broke loose for a long run, but big Kenneth Grant ran him down to save a touchdown.

LB Mike Barrett: Barrett, once again, was a major part of the defense. There was talk before the season began that Ernest Hausmann might take Barrett's place, but the versatile linebacker has been tremendous. Barrett was second on the team with five tackles and was able to get to Allar once to get credited with a QB hurry.

CB Will Johnson: The star sophomore was tasked with stopping Penn State's top WR KeAndre Lambert-Smith. Lambert-Smith was held to just one catch for six yards against Michigan and Johnson was the main reason why -- along with Allar being extremely inaccurate. Johnson only had two tackles, but he also had two pass breakups and was superb in coverage.
