In this story:

Jim Harbaugh named Roman Wilson, Cornelius Johnson, and Tyler Morris the starting three wide receivers when fall camp opened. However, Morris and spring standout Peyton O'Leary have been battling an injury and it's not known if either will be able to go on Saturday. Sophomore Darius Clemons is another name who has 'gone through something' this fall, so if those three cannot suit up -- Michigan may be looking at its trio of freshmen.

Wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy spoke with the Michigan media on Wednesday and he was asked who has stepped up this fall. Bellamy first mentioned the three freshmen and then sprinkled in a few other names.

"The freshmen, Semaj Morgan, Karmello English, and Fredrick Moore," said Bellamy. "Those guys have had a really good camp. Tyler [Morris], Darius [Clemons], Peyton [O'Leary], everyone has stepped up. I'm excited for those guys to get an opportunity on Saturday to showcase what they've done all camp."

With so many lingering injuries in camp, the freshmen might be a little ahead of schedule. Bellamy said they didn't get any more reps than usual, but they are committed and all three come from great high school programs who were able to get them ready for big-time football.

"What I love about them, they love football and I love their approach, the way they attack football every day," Bellamy said on the three freshmen. "All three of them came from great high school football programs. Those guys understand the commitment to success. They understand -- show up every day, you learn and you try to learn from mistakes that you have made. Every day you see growth and that's what is super encouraging as a coach. They've got the trust of the coaches and the players. Just keep growing, they're still young. Every week, every day, every opportunity they have, just keep building their confidence up and let it roll."

It's not out of the question that Morgan and Moore are getting serious looks in camp since both were early enrollees and both played in the spring game. But English, who committed to Michigan in late December, had to quickly assert himself since he didn't enroll early. Bellamy said the 5-foot-11 receiver was able to adapt quickly because he played for one of the best high school coaches at Phenix City Central High School.

"He's smart," Bellamy said of Engish. "I alluded to the fact that all three boys came from successful high school programs. Obviously, you guys know where Semaj came from, Fredrick Moore won a state championship his senior year and Karmello plays in one of the toughest leagues in Alabama. His high school head football coach was a former college coach. From a development standpoint, there's a lot of college schemes and terminology. He was able to adapt pretty quickly. As I was saying with a lot of these guys, to come in and be ready to compete right away."

You can expect to see all three receivers get a chance on Saturday regardless if Morris, O'Leary, and Clemons play or not. The Wolverines want to get the young players some valuable playing time and show how much they have developed in a short amount of time.
