Sherrone Moore Is Easily The Best Assistant Coach In The Country

Michigan offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Sherrone Moore is one of five finalist for The Broyles Award.

There are a lot of stellar assistant coaches across the country but five have risen to the top when it comes to consideration for The Broyles Award. The Broyles Award's official Twitter account recently tweeted out the five finalists, and Michigan's Sherrone Moore made the cut.

Moore will now battle Georgia offensive coordinator Mike Bobo, Iowa defensive coordinator Phil Parker, LSU offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock and Oregon offensive coordinator Will Stein for the award. Unfortunately for everyone else, their resume simply doesn't stack up against Moore's. 

All Moore did this year, was call Michigan's plays, coach one of the best offensive lines in the country and go 4-0 as acting head coach. Not only did he win all four games he coached while Jim Harbaugh was serving a suspension, two of them were against top ten teams and one was on the road at Penn State. Throw in the fact that the other top ten win was in The Game against Ohio State, with literally everything on the line, and the award really should already be on his mantle at home.

Michigan's defensive coordinator, Jesse Minter, who could be up for the award himself as the conductor of one of that nation's top defenses, talked about Moore and explained why the Broyles should definitely go to U-M's OC.

"I mean, just look at what he's done," Minter said. "He has two top 10 wins as a head coach. He's, I think he's 4-0 now as a head coach. What he's done with our offense, what he's done as a leader, what he's done with our offensive line. I know it's not like a Career Achievement Award, but when you really look at his last three years, as a whole, and then what he's been able to do every time he's been elevated to a different role, he has thrived in that role. There's no greater choice in the country than Sherrone Moore."
