WATCH: Michigan Defeats Michigan State In The Final Seconds

If you tuned out early or didn't watch at all, you missed an incredible hockey game last night between No. 5 Michigan and No. 15 Michigan State. It was the 35th meeting overall for the annual Duel in the D between the two programs, and the 7th meeting since the two programs started competing for the Iron D trophy.
Michigan State jumped out to a 2-1 lead over Michigan, before the Wolverines responded with two quick goals in less than two minutes in the second period. With the Wolverines leading 3-2, the Spartans tied it up in the third period with just over four minutes remaining in regulation. The two teams would head to overtime, where it looked like the game was about to end in a 3-3 tie...when this happened:

In the final seconds over overtime, senior Jay Keranen blasted the puck toward the goal, and sophomore Luke Hughes secured the rebound in prime position to hit the game-winner. It was Michigan's sixth straight win over Michigan State in the 'Duel in the D' series, and the 14th win for the Wolverines over the Spartans in the last 16 meetings between the two programs.
“Michigan versus Michigan State, it’s the two schools that hate each other the most,” freshman forward Frank Nazar III said. “Obviously there’s a ton of intensity in that. We’re not just doing it for ourselves, we’re doing it for all the guys who have played.”
