REPORT: A Familiar Face Returning To Michigan Football Staff

It sounds like a familiar face may be returning to the University of Michigan to reunite with Jim Harbaugh as part of the coaching staff. On Monday, it was reported that Michigan is expected to hire Chris Partridge as an assistant coach.
Partridge spent time as part of Harbaugh's coaching staff from 2015-19, and was considered to be a pretty big loss on the recruiting trail when he departed for Ole Miss in 2020. During his time at Michigan, Partridge served as director of player personnel, special teams coordinator, linebackers coach, and safeties coach.
To make things even more interesting, Harbaugh already has 10 assistants on staff - which is the NCAA limit. This means that Partridge, if hired, is either going to take on more of an analyst role, or that an assistant currently on Harbaugh's coaching staff is on their way out.
Here's a look at Harbaugh's current staff:
- Steve Clinkscale, Co-Defensive Coordinator/Defensive Backs
- Jesse Minter, Defensive Coordinator
- Sherrone Moore, Offensive Coordinator/Offensive Line Coach
- Kirk Campbell, Quarterbacks Coach
- Ron Bellamy, Wide Receivers Coach
- Mike Elston, Defensive Line Coach
- Mike Hart, Running Backs Coach
- George Helow, Linebackers Coach
- Grant Newsome, Tight Ends Coach
- Jay Harbaugh, Special Teams/Safeties
We'll update this story as more information becomes available.
