Future Buckeye On Michigan Commits: 'Salty That They Didn't Get OSU Offers'

After nearly two decades of a one-sided advantage in favor of the Buckeyes, the rivalry between Michigan and Ohio State is officially back. For Michigan, a renewed focus on the rivalry has resulted in back-to-back dominant wins over Ohio State, with both wins catapulting the Wolverines to a Big Ten Championship and spot in the College Football Playoff.
As the Wolverines look to make it three straight over the Buckeyes this fall, it's clear that both sides of this fierce rivalry are fully embracing what it means to compete in 'The Game' - and that includes recruits.
For evidence, look no further than Tuesday night's exchange between a handful of future Wolverines and Buckeyes.
It began with Ian Moore, a 2024 four-star OL Buckeye commit who responded to a question on Twitter over which program had the better class of linemen at this point. In response to the question, Moore claimed that Ohio State's OL recruits were significantly better, while adding that Michigan recruits were 'salty' about not receiving an offer from Ohio State.
Current Michigan commit (and Ohio native) Ben Roebuck didn't take kindly to Moore's assessment. Roebuck, a 6-7, 320 pound offensive lineman out of St. Edward (Ohio) High School, fired back at Moore.
"Always comes down to not having that offer," Roebuck wrote. "Michigan's got the better offensive line and better coaches. Seems like I wasn't missing out on much."

This exchange led to several Michigan and Ohio State recruits trading jabs on Twitter for the better part of the evening.
It's certainly not the first time that Moore has made a bold statement about the Wolverines via his Twitter account. Earlier this month, the high school junior - who didn't receive an offer from Michigan - asserted that he's going to go undefeated against the Wolverines during his time in Columbus.
fr though. they oughta keep watching because we’re gonna earn all 4 of our gold pants when we’re done.

You would think that the last two meetings between Michigan and Ohio State would humble the Buckeyes just a bit, but they seem to be leaning into any narrative that makes them feel better. In 2021 it was the flu, in 2022 it was only a handful of lucky plays that decided 'The Game', and now it's about trying to discredit Michigan's recruiting success in the state of Ohio because the Buckeyes simply didn't want those recruits anyway.
Either way you cut it, it's clear that the folks in Ohio are struggling to cope with the new reality that Michigan is now at the top of the pecking order in the Big Ten Conference.
There's no doubt that the hostility between the two programs will be on full display when they meet in Ann Arbor on Nov. 25. For those who are counting, that's just 219 days from now.
