Michigan Flips Versatile Defensive Lineman Away From Stanford

Another targeted prospect, another flip, commitment and signing for Michigan.

Michigan just hosted Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon defensive lineman Cameron Brandt within the last couple of weeks and now he's a Wolverine.

The 6-4, 260-pounder had been a Stanford commit since July, but the coaching changes out west obviously gave him some second thoughts as he started taking visits. Michigan took note, hosted him and flipped him all in a relatively short amount of time.

The Wolverines actually offered Brandt way back in May, but he committed to Stanford just about two months later. Obviously U-M didn't forget about him, maintained the necessary relationships to remain involved and now he's a part of Michigan's 2023 class.

Brandt is a pretty interesting prospect in the same kind of mold as current Michigan defensive lineman Kris Jenkins. Coming out of high school, Jenkins was listed at just 239 pounds. He's now a 285-pound, freak of an athlete who can play three or four positions along the defensive line. Because of his build and athleticism, Brandt could follow a similar path as a player with great position versatility. If he's actually 260 right now, he's close to being big enough to play on the edges of a defensive line already. If he decides to hit the calories, which is more likely, he could get to 300+ relatively quickly and potentially be a second coming of Jenkins. It's going to be interesting to see how he develops in the coming years under Abigail O'Connor and Ben Herbert's guidance.
