Five-Star, No. 1 Safety Sure Looks Good In Maize And Blue

Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore is working on filling out his staff but recruits are still looking hard at the national champs.

Officially, Michigan doesn't have a defensive coach in the building right now, which obviously isn't ideal. Wink Martindale is going to be the defensive coordinator but it's not on the books just yet and it looks like Sherrone Moore is zeroing in on a defensive line coach but that hasn't completely materialized yet either. Still, big time defensive prospects are looking at Michigan after the national title run with the nation's No. 1 defense. One such prospect, is Tampa (Fla.) Zephyrhills safety DJ Pickett

The 6-2, 170-pounder, who is viewed as a top ten prospect nationally, recently dropped his top five and still has Michigan in the mix despite the coaching vacancies.

Per the graphic above, which highlights Sherrone Moore as Michigan's head coach, outlines Pickett's top five, which consists of the Wolverines along with LSU, Oregon, Georgia and Miami. It's obviously a pretty accomplished group of head coaches and big time programs, but Sherrone is hanging in there.

Picket has now been to U-M several times and during each visit, he throws on the famous winged helmet and maize and blue uniform and really looks like the real deal. It's hard to say if he'll end up in Ann Arbor for real, but he looks right at home in the best uniform in college football.
