Strengths: In high school, Treadwell was such a star that he rarely left the field. In 2010 he finally got to play his DT position full time. Ideally, they wanted to red shirt him, but frankly, he played so well that they couldn’t. They took the shirt off and he played.

 

Let’s look at the Alamo Bowl at two plays that show you the amazing upside of this fine young man. In the first quarter with 2:31 on the clock the Red Raiders faced a second and one. He drove the Red Raiders center right into the gap and forced the play to change. On a play like that most people wouldn’t have noticed that Treadwell’s perfect execution didn’t get a tackle, but it altered the Red Raiders’ attack.

 

A second example is on a first and ten with Texas Tech at the MSU 49. The guard engaged him, he got away, and he motored 16 yards downfield on a play that wasn’t at him for the tackle. The high motor you saw on that play was on display all season. He is committed to playing the game at a high level and doing it flawlessly.

 

Like his father Don (MSU OC), he is a perfectionist and that commitment to doing things right helps him.

 

Weakness: His biggest weakness is that he has only been a full time DT for one year. He will continue to get better with each rep. There are some things that are caught and not taught and that comes on the field. Treadwell has a quality that coaches crave in that he gets better every time he steps on the field, practice or game.

 

Final Analysis: Treadwell will be an All Big Ten performer before his time is done. He has all the tools and the will. Many players may have the tools, but not the want to. He is a high character person to go along with the talent and is poised for a monster 2010.
