Dantonio Adds OT Conway to the 2009 Class!

Mark Dantonio and the Spartan Nation have once again reached into the head coach’s home state in order to secure another big college football recruit.

We have reported extensively about the big OT Henry Conway from Shaker Heights, even reporting earlier in the week that with two spots open, they wanted Conway to fit one of them. He has excellent size and at 6’6” and 302 pounds he certainly has a lot of room to firm up and add even more muscle bulk. Conway informed the Spartans on Tuesday evening that he would be joining the team.

Another college head coach that had tried recruiting Conway early in the process had high praise for the new Spartan road grader when we spoke to him earlier in the month. “Henry is a smart kid but he plays with a mean streak. He’s got good, not great, technique but he makes up for it by being an excellent athlete,” said the Coach, “He has to get stronger but he has exceptional hands, which is very important at his projected position.”

The Spartans have one more spot open for the 2009 class, but that doesn’t mean that they will use it. They will only take a high quality player and person, as they don’t have to reach with the way the 2010 class is shaping up.

As we have previously reported, the head coach we spoke to told us, “The most telling comment about Conway was when the Coach said, “Off the field Henry is a tremendous kid but he plays possessed when he’s on it.”

We had previously reported about Conway’s life long dream of playing in the Big Ten and he now gets to fulfill that dream in East Lansing.

Conway’s commitment brings the Spartans 2009 class to a total of 21, with an astounding seven (33%) from Ohio alone.
