Dantonio and Spartans Target Another Warren Prospect for 2010 Class, An Excellent LB

Warren, Michigan seems to be a hot spot for the Spartans in 2010. Mark Dantonio’s staff has already targeted LB Austin Gray of Warren Fitzgerald as one of the players they would love to don the Green and White, but his cross town rival would also be a welcome piece to the Spartan Puzzle.

DE C.J. Olaniyan from Warren Mott (MI) is one of the top prospects in the state of Michigan for 2010 for good reason. He has great size at 6’5” 230 lbs and the versatility so many schools covet. Olaniyan could project to either side of the ball at TE or DE but with the recent influx of TE talent in East Lansing Olaniyan is being recruited by the Green and White to come off the edge, which certainly isn’t a bad thing. Olaniyan put up impressive numbers and was selected as 1st Team All-East by the Detroit Free Press after recording 77 tackles and nine sacks and adding 33 receptions for 536 yards and three touchdowns this past season.

Olaniyan has the interest to match his talent, listing early offers from Indiana, Kentucky and MSU while drawing interest from many schools including LSU, Cincinnati, Iowa and Wisconsin. Despite the process being in the early stages, Olaniyan is being courted by an impressive amount of school and it would be foolish to expect that number not to swell greatly as the recruiting process gets into full swing.

It is no secret that DE is one of the priorities for the Spartan staff heading into the 2010 class and Olaniyan would not only provide the Spartans with yet another versatile prospect but also lock down another elite in-state talent.

Stay tuned because the recruitment of a young man this talented will be a fun ride and hopefully when all is said and done Coach Dantonio will be the one leading C.J. Olaniyan out onto the field during his collegiate career.
