Dantonio prepares for biggest recruiting weekend for MSU football in years!

Under JLS you got the idea (and it proved correct) that he had no clue what it took to recruit at this level. New MSU football coach Mark Dantonio does get it.  MSU will have the biggest recruiting weekend since Bobby Williams was the head coach for sure, maybe as far back as Saban.

With as many as 14 kids on their way to East Lansing and all filing critical needs and wants, this could be huge. Not only does the MSU campus sell itself but also with a program freshly granted with and infusion of hope, this could be huge. Nice December weather won't hurt either with southern kids.

Dantonio is wasting no time attacking MSU’s biggest needs: defense. “This weekend will be packed with a lot of talent, and it is clear that they mean business on defense,†said a source that is part of the football program at MSU.

It has been a long time since MSU could point to such a big weekend on campus, but this one could go a long way towards seeing the future really take shape. I said yesterday that the true test of Dantonio comes in February of 2008, but make no mistake all the help he gets now, makes 08’ that much easier. He may not get them all but this weekend could be a huge victory. Possibly the biggest victory since the win at Notre Dame in 2005, and this isn’t even a game. I feel very comfortable with Coach Dantonio at the helm, and have the strong sense that we may be able to point back to this weekend years from now. Success or not this weekend, the depth and size does point the Spartan Nation's attention to the future and gives us hope.
