Dantonio Wastes No Time Adding Recruit Number Fourteen for 2010 Class!

It was a good day for Mark Dantonio as he basks in the glory of his second straight win over arch rival Michigan. Earlier in the day he received commitment number 13 from Georgia WR Keith Mumphery and at three PM today he got a phone call from Hubbard, Ohio safety Kurtis Drummond. We talked with Drummond moments ago and he told Spartan Nation that Dantonio told him, “I am really thrilled and excited to get to Coach you.”

Drummond picked MSU after having been very impressed with the staff. In fact he told Spartan Nation “I got the vibe that they were real people,” Drummond said of the staff. “They weren’t feeding me lines just for recruitment.” Those comments came a few weeks ago, but today he had even stronger comments. "They are real people and I really liked that."

Drummond was on campus for this weekends big game and left impressed by the Spartan Nation. "It was a great experience, especailly the fan support."

Getting to play for DC Par Narduzzi got this young man fired up. Again, he told Spartan Nation “(Coach Narduzzi) is forward guy — he’ll let you know where you stand, and I like that,” Drummond said. “He’s an honest man, and that’s the kind of coach I’m looking for.”

He picked MSU over Michigan and a myriad of other schools. Drummond is a bruiser who loves to hit. That physical play reminds many of current Spartan Rod Jenrette, but with better ball skills.

The family atmosphere at MSU certainly appealed to the multi-talented defensive back. He is big at 6’2” and is currently at 195 pounds. Although his speed is not blazing, he does run a 4.6 and one person close to Drummond told Spartan Nation, “He may not be lightning quick, but he has great football speed.

He will do well under the tutelage of Ken Mannie as he adds strength. Other school saw Drummond as a wide receiver or simply an athlete, but MSU recruited him solely as a safety.

Here is a list of the thirteen other young men that Drummond is joining for the 2010 class.
