Hondo answers some of your MSU email!

Hondo S. Carpenter

Hondo,
I was horrified to see the personal foul penalties. Tell me that this isn’t a new pattern?
Keith
Â
Hi Keith!
Dumb personal fouls are not excusable. I also agree with MD that the game of football is violent and some penalties are aggression penalties and you can’t curtail those. With that said, the three personal foul penalties at Wisconsin were not excusable.

Â
Hondo,
Has practice this week been like before? Are the guys acting the same?
Molly
Â
Hi Molly!
I was shocked at practice this week. I believed before I went that this was not the same team. I saw that first hand. I really feel bad for the Wildcats. They are coming into the high Cathedral of the Spartan Nation (Spartan Stadium) on Saturday and they are going to be met by a hungry team on a mission.
Â
Hondo,
Do you think the Spartans can win the next two? I really am convinced that if the Spartans win the next two, the rest won’t matter. Dantonio would have made his point.

Larry

Â
Hi Larry!
I not only think they will, I am convinced that they will win these two. Want to try something exciting? Look at the schedule and how many games do you look at that you are certain the Spartans can’t compete in? Things are looking up for the Spartan Nation.

Â
Hondo,
I love Deon Curry and how he plays football and basketball. I just think that he drops to many balls. What is your take?

Tim
Â
Tim!
I first must confess that Deon is a great kid. I really like him. I think that you saw him take his catching ability up a notch against UW. I KNOW he has the athletic ability and he is one of those kids that you root for. I think he has struggled some this season but UW I believe was a break out for him and I look for big things from him the rest of the season.

How worried are you about Swenson and MSU’s less than stellar field goal success.
Melissa
Â
Â
Hello Melissa!
First let me say that more so than any other position, kicker is so psychological. I think that it appears Swenson is having a sophomore slump, but he is a very good kicker and one good kick can flip the psychological game in his direction.  I think he will be fine.

Â
Hondo,
I love the idea of Izzo and MD working together. As busy as Tom is with basketball, does he really have time to help MD with recruiting?

Kevin
Â
Hi Kevin!
Tom loves football. In fact he is going to join me live on the 6 o’clock news tonight and we are going to talk about that. I can tell you this. His passion for football is well known and he jumps at any chance to help MD.

Are you surprised by how well Devin Thomas has done? He wasn’t even known last season and now he is arguably the most valuable player in the Big Ten/

Dex
Â
Hi Dex!
I think Devin is a great example along with Jonal Saint-Dic and many others that it isn’t about accumulating players it is about what you do with them. I love to see these guys succeed. Not only as a Spartan fan, but also as a human being, there are a lot of great kids and it makes it fun to see them succeed.

Â
Hondo,
I think that Saturday is the most important football game for the Spartan Nation since the George Perles Rose Bowl. It is time for these kids and staff to exorcise the falling apart demons of the past? Agree?

Paul
Â
Hi Paul!
WOW that is a big statement. I would agree that this game is huge. The team will be sending a message to the Big Ten, the nation and more importantly the Spartan Nation that things are different. This is a huge game and I agree with one of the players who told me after the Wisconsin loss that he just wanted to play NW now. These guys are ready and it will be a lot of fun.
