Hondo answers some of your MSU football questions:

Hondo,
I have to admit that I am shocked at how far some of the players “left over†from JLS are progressing under Dantonio. I was unsure about the change but the level of coaching from this staff is something you have really harped on. Good call.
Chris from Florida
Â
Hi Chris.
I am really excited by the ability of this staff to coach. They are getting every ounce of blood out of the proverbial turnip and it is refreshing. Top to bottom this is the best staff we have had at MSU since George Perles’s first season.

Devin Thomas is a stud. What got into him?
Mark from Minneapolis
Â
Hi Mark.
Devin is under a new system. I talked with him about things being fresh and new under this staff on Saturday and he said it best. “These coaches don’t make conclusions about you. They let you show who you are and what you are. It is nice knowing that if I earn the time I will get it. They want the best 11 and as long as you take care of your business they will play the best players.â€

I just love Nitchman. That kid is a beast. I played center in high school and I think he could be real special. What do you think?
Martin from Toledo
Â
Hi Martin!
I am a huge Joel Nitchman guy. In fact I am going to have an article up about him late tonight or first thing on Wednesday and that will only encourage you more. He is so fundamentally sound and that allows the guards to play not worrying about covering his errors. He can stand to gain a few pounds but that young man just does things on and off the field the right way. I know for a fact that the coaches love how teachable he is also.

True or false Nick Foles will be the next starter when Hoyer is done? I have a bet with my father in law.
Cory in Jackson
Â
TRUE! Nick is a star. You can see it in practice and you can see how he handles himself. He is fluid, has a great release and is exteremly football smart. He grasps things very quickly. He already has a good sense of the offense and what I like is that he has the character to really learn from Hoyer and he didn’t come in with a big ego. That is really credit to his parents whom I have met and are just as down to earth as their son.

I have a new favorite Spartan: the MISSILE! I was just overwhelmed with the article about him. It is kids like him that will turn MSU around. I want one of his jersey’s can you tell me how to get one?
Katie in Detroit
Â
Hi Katie. Call Nike and complain if you can’t order one online. I have gotten a lot of feedback on the articles about the MISSILE. He has such a pure love of football, balanced with being a great kid that makes covering him fun. He appreciates this opportunity and that makes watching him succeed just that much better.

WOW brother, Greg Jones is a stud. You said back when Dantonio signed these kids that we would see a lot of them play and contribute. Boy are you right. That young man hits like a Mack truck. I can’t wait to see him get on the field full time.
Doug in Texas
Â
Hi Doug.Â
He is a very good player and you’re right, he is very explosive. I have really enjoyed watching this entire class play. Their athletic ability is impressive and they are all very good kids. Mark wanted to hammer the point home about character and there is no doubt that they have.

With Fred Smith coming to MSU how about next year’s wide receivers?
Hugh in Japan
Â
Hi Hugh!
First of all thanks for your service to the nation buddy! Second of all, imagine Devin Thomas, Mark Dell, Fred Smith and don’t forget a young man that may eventually be the very best of Dantonio’s first class B.J Cunningham. This is a great offense for receivers to not only catch passes and show how athletic they are, but also to show that they can block down field. Things look really good at the WR.
