I have tried to get as much info to use as I can and I will continue it. I will however head your warnings (thanks to those of you on the RCMB that all have English degrees LMAO) from your emails that my lack of spell check is killing you. J

MSU is wasting no time and they are actively going after big names. Here is what I know. I am going to be very careful to get as many details out as I can but I have to be careful in what I say so as not to reveal sources.Â

1. Butch Davis is clearly the “big horse” that they want to ride. I know that some think that he is using MSU to get more from UNC. As you recall I broke on Tuesday evening on the news that MSU had already “informally” contacted Davis and he was interested. That story led to the expedited process of the Smith termination as they had hoped to move more covertly. I know that Butch thinks that this is a great job and I also know that he does not think MSU is “that far away” according to my source from being an elite school. Davis thinks having an Izzo next to him would be huge having not had that at Miami and he has great respect for the school. If he does not come here it is by his choice or dragging his feet. MSU will do all it has to do to land him so if he does not come, it will be because of him not MSU. I can tell you this, everyone is giving MSU big props for their effort here and that should excite us all.
2. One name that many people are throwing around has informed MSU that he has no interest. He does not want to embarrass the University nor does he want fire from his school so he asked me personally last night not to mention him anymore but at the same time, not say he has “spurned” MSU. He thinks it is a great school but he has other career ideas and “it wouldn’t be fair to use MSU.”
3. One name that is talked heavily about by my competition has let it be known that he is not interested at all. He told me last night when I asked him if I could quote him “there is no need for that, they let it be known privately that they wanted to talk and I should honor that by privately telling them no thanks.” He went on to say “they are getting it right, you need to report that they are doing a great job they way they are doing this and I am, considering their past reputation, really impressed with that group.”
4. Saban is not happy in Miami and he is making that clear to people down there. There is a group here that would love him back and they will at least try talk to him. I can tell you that any report he was in town is false. He wasn’t but that does not mean he isn’t still in the mix.
5. Mooch has people near him (I am not talking about Izzo) that are saying he does not want this job. There are reports that he sold his house in Bloomfield and he did, but “he has not and is not” looking for a house in Mid Michigan now. That said; don’t listen to any reports about his agent or anything like that. Mooch has not said he doesn’t want it and with all the no’s there is some smoke and that means there may be a fire. I am in no way saying he wants it. I am however saying that I am working the phones and emails and those that don’t want it are saying it. He has not said anything. I think that by this time next week if he has not said publicly no, then it becomes a huge story and yes I do know more, but I have to stop there. Again, if we have not heard “I don’t want the job” from Mooch this time next week”, he is a player.Â
6. November 10, 2006 is a huge MAC game. Watch it close as two coaches that are both doing great jobs face off when WMU and CMU go at it.Â

I have had three people email me and ask that I send wedding wishes to Kosmo a poster on the RCMB. Kosmo is a very talented person and a hilarious poster on what I clearly feel is the premiere message board in the nation so props to him and the lucky lady!
