Mark Dantonio Gets Recruit #18 for the 2010 Football Class: LB/DE Justin Wilson From Davie, Florida!

The Spartan Nation had a lot of football talent on campus for the 2010 class this weekend. Spartan Nation had a detailed story last Tuesday telling who was on campus and write ups on those uncommitted young men.Â
Â
Here is what Drew Augustana wrote on Tuesday about the latest commit Justin Wilson: “Justin Wilson is another prospect who has recently shown up on the radar. He is very similar to Denzel Drone of last year. He has the speed, strength, and fundamentals to be a D-1 player but the Florida schools have overlooked him and the Spartans may benefit once again because of it.â€
Although a LB in high school, because of Wilson’s versatility and speed, he could also put his hand on the ground in a DE capacity. Wilson is from talent rich Florida and that is a big reason that he was overlooked.
Â
What sticks out most with Wilson is his technique. He has exceptional hands and an ability to use them to shed blockers and make the tackle. If there is any criticism of his game it is that he has to learn to play with his head up, and not look down at where he places his feet.
Â
That is not an uncommon mistake in young players, but what is refreshing for the Spartans is that Wilson is exceptionally teachable and willing to learn. Wilson has all of the tangibles and with a high motor and willingness to take coaching, he should have a good shot at immediate playing time after a red shirt season spent with Coach Ken Mannie.
Â
The Spartans have looked to significantly upgrade the speed of the Spartans roster since the arrival of Mark Dantonio and with his sub 5.0 forty speed that would project Wilson at what would be a very fast DE. With his hand and eye coordination that would make it very evident that he could play that spot along with his LB role.
Â
No matter if he plays with his hand on the ground or not, Wilson is a great addition to the 2010 class.  The fruit of this weekends big recruiting visits still isn’t over.  There were several young men on campus who are very impressed with Coach Dantonio’s program and more could be on the way.
Â
Remember to check back with Spartan Nation should any other commitments break and on Monday night for a complete recap of the weekend.Â
