Spartan Nation has been able to confirm that 16 prospects will be on campus for the basketball game vs Ohio State this weekend. 14 are from the 2011 class along with 2 from the 2012 class.

The 2011 prospects who will be on campus are:

  • DeAnthony Arnett – WR – 6’0, 170lbs – Saginaw, MI
  • Brennen Beyer – DE – 6’4, 215lbs – Canton, MI
  • Bradley Carrico – DE – 6’6, 255lbs – Dublin, OH
  • Connor Cook – QB – 6’3. 200lbs - Hinckley, OH
  • Justice Hayes – RB – 5’10, 175lbs – Grand Blanc, MI

  • Courtney Williams – WR/DB – 6’3, 210 – Melvindale, MI
  • Kevin Williams – DT – 6’3, 275lbs – Holland, OH

The 2012 prospects are a pair of teammates from Archbishop Hoban HS in Akron, OH:

  • LaTroy Lewis – DE – 6’4, 225lbs
  • Greg McMullen – DE – 6’5, 230lbs

Joining them will be two current Spartans for the 2010 class, William Gholston and Mylan Hicks.

With seven of the prospects holding offers, and many of them holding MSU at the top of their list, seeing our second commit for the 2011 class is not out of the question. The other prospects are players to keep your eye on, as they may receive their offers this weekend or in the near future.  The staff will be able to use the fact that MSU is battling OSU for the big ten title to their advantage because that is exactly what the football team hopes to be doing when these recruits step on campus.

New 2010 Offers…

Spartan Nation has been able to confirm that nine more prospects for the 2011 class have received offers.  The state of Ohio continues to be the focal point of this class as seven of the new offers hail from Ohio. No quarterbacks had been offered up to this point; however the quarterback position took the front seat this week as three quarterbacks picked up offers

  • Brennen Beyer – DE – 6’4, 215lbs – Canton, MI
  • Connor Cook – QB – 6’3, 200lbs – Hinckley, OH
  • Eilar Hardy – DB – 6’0, 170lbs – Reynoldsburg, OH
  • Cardale Jones – QB – 6’5, 220lbs – Euclid, OH (Glenville)
  • Braxton Miller – QB – 6’2, 190lbs – Huber Heights, OH
  • Nick Vannett – TE – 6’6, 230lbs – Westerville, OH
  • Avery Walls – DB – 5’11, 190lbs – McDonough, GA
  • Shaquille Washington – WR – 5’9, 165lbs – Maple Heights, OH
  • Kevin Williams – DT – 6’3, 275lbs – Holland, OH

All three QB’s are high caliber players who could push Maxwell and Boisture for playing time if they choose to come to MSU. The staff is looking to add a very talented QB to this class, however they are in a position where QB is not a huge need right now. They would like to take one QB with this class and one with the 2012 class to alleviate the loss of Nichol and Cousins. If they can’t get someone who can come in and play they will hold the scholarship and look to sign two QB’s in the 2012 class.

Many of you may be looking at Washington’s size and be wondering why we are offering a 5’9 WR. I urge you to watch his film before saying he is “too small”. “Shaq” could come in and be the biggest playmaker on the team. He currently plays QB for his high school but has been working out as a WR at camps. He pulls moves unknown to video games and seems like he is impossible to tackle. Combine that with his 4.4 speed and you have a homerun threat every time he touches the ball.
