Lima Catholic Central quarterback Tyler O’Connor has a Spartan offer. The 6’3” 205 pound junior is one the top pro-style QB’s in the Midwest. O’Connor is an accurate passer with great feet. O’Connor has recorded a 4.7 forty and has the ability to move well outside the pocket.

Tyler shared a little bit with us regarding his quarterbacking skills and preparation. “I have a very good quarterback coach by the name of Axel Ballard at my school. He is my one on one coach… on Thursday before Friday’s game, we go indoors and watch film on the other team. We watch film every week.” O’Connor’s decision making is sound and is one of the things that really stands out in his game.

Tyler spoke with us about Michigan State. He had some great things to say about MSU. “Everything I know (about MSU) comes from Coach (Mike) Tressel. I was at Junior Day and visited all of the nice facilities. Everything up there is top notch. I don’t think it gets any better anywhere across the nation.” With the recent improvements to “The Duffy” and the state of the art weight room, recruits are taking notice. Michigan State is in a position to land elite players. Tyler had this to say about MSU’s recent success. “They are a great program. Co-Big Ten Champions last year. I saw their facilities and I was very impressed.”

We talked with Tyler about MSU and whether or not they were in a position to land his services. He made it abundantly clear that MSU was firmly in the O’Connor Sweepstakes. “After being up there and visiting everyone, I’m becoming a lot closer with all of the coaches. After seeing everything, it (MSU) looked like a nice fit. Everything was very impressive. I could see myself playing there.”

Tyler hasn’t said specifically when he’d like to make his college choice. There will be a number of programs vying for his services. We will certainly be checking in with Tyler throughout his recruitment.
