In this story:
Just under two months before the Spartans take the hardwood, we now have a complete picture of Michigan State men's basketball's 2023-24 schedule after the Big Ten Conference revealed league schedules for each member program.
MSU opens Big Ten play on Dec. 5 when it hosts Wisconsin, and will play another league game on Dec. 10 at Nebraska before the turn of the calendar. Here is Michigan State's full conference schedule:

As per usual, Michigan State will face archrival Michigan twice during the regular season, once in East Lansing (Jan. 30) and once in Ann Arbor (Feb. 17). The other six Big Ten opponents that the Spartans will play a home-and-home against are Maryland, Minnesota, Northwestern, Illinois, Penn State and Wisconsin.
Michigan State will also welcome Rutgers (Jan. 14), Iowa (Feb. 20) and Ohio State (Feb. 25) to the Breslin Center, but MSU will not make return trips to Iowa City, Columbus or Piscataway.
In addition to the early road trip to Nebraska, the Spartans will travel to Purdue (Mar. 2) and Indiana (Mar. 10) but won't get the benefit of facing any of those three opponents in East Lansing.
It's a tough draw for Michigan State in having to play both Indiana schools on the road only, particularly Purdue. The Boilermakers won the Big Ten regular season championship by three games in 2022-23, and will be considered the favorite to win the league again next season with starting center Zach Edey back for another year in West Lafayette.
With that said, the Spartans appear to be the top challenger for the defending Big Ten champions. Michigan State lost starting power forward Joey Hauser (eligibility) and reserve wing Pierre Brooks (transfer) from last year's squad, but every other contributor returns for MSU.
The Spartans also add the nation's No. 3 recruiting class to their squad, made up of five-star forward Xavier Booker, five-star point guard Jeremy Fears and four-star forwards Coen Carr and Gehrig Normand. Expectations are that MSU will be a top contender both in the Big Ten and nationally in 2023-24.
Michigan State has not beaten Purdue at Mackey Arena in West Lafayette since 2014, having lost six in a row on the road against the Boilermakers. The Spartans are also 7-13 at Indiana's Assembly Hall since 2000.
