MSU vs. Northwestern scouting report and prediction

Â
Other than the UAB game, I have not been as confident as I am right now typing this. I feel bad for a depleted Wildcat team that is coming in here with the Spartans coming off of a week of practice that has them at an emotional and mental ready that I have not seen in a long time.

Â
The Spartans have been crisp and since moments after the Wisconsin loss, they have been ready for this game. The players are desperate to get to the High Cathedral of the Spartan Nation: Spartan Stadium, and prove to the Spartan Nation that they are not the same team as before.

Â
Seconds after the final prayer in Madison, Captain Travis Key called them back to mid field to remind them that they are different and all week in practice, they have enunciated that.

Â
The Spartans are going to lay a beat down on the injury strapped Wildcats and this is going to be a 100% physical domination.

Â
OFFENSE

NWU has a decent rushing D and they will load the box and try to make the Spartans beat them through the air. The Spartans will force them to cover them at the WR position and will run all over them when they can’t load the box. Look for Hoyer to have big numbers passing and because the Cats will have to adjust to the Spartan aerial attack, look for MSU to get big numbers rushing also.

Â
DEFENSE

With Sutton out, the Cats will have to try to pass and the Spartan pass rush is drooling. The Spartans will have a huge sack/turnover day and although they will spread out the Spartans and get some rushing yards, this is just not going to be fair.

Â
Look for the Spartans to exercise their flopping and folding tendency of the past, and to win big on Saturday as they cruise to a 5-1 start. Make it MSU 45 NWU 17!

Â
Could NWU win? Of course they can. The real issue is MSU. The only way NWU can win is if the Spartans talked about being different but aren’t. NWU is beat up and injured and only if the Spartans let them not only in this, but allow them to stick around is how they can win. I am not worried about this at all.
