MSU vs. Wisconsin Scouting Report and Prediction

Â
Having watched all of MSU’s games and all of Wisconsin’s this is a lot easier than I thought it would be.  In my pre-season analysis I thought the Spartans would lose this one.

Â
The Badgers have had a terrible season. They have struggled, but the issues they face are not a lack of talent. Last week they rose to the occasion and won, but when you peel away the onion you see what the Spartans are going to face.

Â

How the Spartans Win

Â
This one is simple. Both teams have the exact same game plan. Run the ball and pass when you want to and not when you have to. Here is who wins on Saturday. If the Spartans win, I am not convinced they have to have the most rushing yards. I think Ringer has a big day, but if they use some first down play action and pass when they want to they will destroy Wisconsin.

Â
I am the old school kind of guy that would love to run it 60 times per game. I love the running game. The teams that have beaten the Badgers however have set that up with the passing game and State will need to trust Hoyer. Brian will be ready and with the Spartans back home and in front of a raucous crowd that distantly can smell some roses should have a big day.

Â

How the Badgers Win

The Badgers win if they are able to kill minutes with the running game. The MSU DL has given up a lot of running yards. The Spartan LB’s will be the key to this game. Wisconsin is a talented group, but can the Spartan LB’s step up? Wisconsin will try to throw when they want and if the Badgers are able to pass on first down and pick up key yards they will keep the Spartans off the field.

Â
Look for the Spartans to put a lot of men in the box and trust their talented DB’s to stop the Badger passing attack. That attack is not good, it is average and without the best TE in the nation, the Spartans can afford to load the box.

Â

Big Key

Â
The team that is “FORCED” to throw the most losses. The Spartans have better DB’s and a better QB so in a game like this those are huge advantages. Remember the rule of five. The team who gets to plus five in the turnover/sack ratio wins. This will be a slugfest.

Â

Prediction

Â
I am so sick of hearing “Spartans” talk about the same old Spartans. It isn’t fair to kids and coaches that weren’t even part of those games. If the Spartans lose it is to a very talented Badger team.  I don’t see the loss this weekend after watching so much film.

Â
It will be a fight, but the Spartans bring it strong and the crowd will be outstanding, make it MSU 27 and Wisconsin 14!
