News and notes from today’s MSU vs. UAB game:
Â
- Brian Hoyer looked like the QB we all thought he was when he came to MSU. He started 10 for 10 and ran the offense like a maestro.
- Eric Gordon is a good LB and could really move to the next level if he can learn to shed blockers better.
- The kickoffs were not good. Dantonio acknowledged it in post game, but it isn’t something to panic about…yet.
- The team saw that Dantonio wasn’t kidding about discipline. Roderick Jenrette (who is a good kid) made a dumb late hit and Dantonio wasted no time sitting him down.
- Pat Narduzzi made a point to all of the media gathered at his post game press conference to remind us that UM had just lost. I love that this staff gets that rivalry. It is so refreshing after the last one hid in the corner when they were mentioned.
- Kellen Davis playing both ways was fun to see. I have told you on numerous occasions that Dantonio plays the best 11 and if that means Davis gets to play both ways so be it.
- According to Dantonio there was not any major injuries.
- Nice to see Sir D back in the staff’s good graces. He is a nice kid and I want to see him do well.
- Pete Clifford and Roland Martin were stars today.
- Nice job by Joel Nitchman on the line today also. He got a shot and rocked.
