Spartans play in Ohio has Ohio recruits taking notice!

Â
The Spartans lost by seven points on Saturday to the number one team in the nation. Critics can pick it apart, but the fact of the matter is, for three recruits in Ohio that Spartan Nation has spoken to since the game, they were impressed.

Â
“As an offensive guy I could really see where they are going on defense and that they do need me on offense. I grew up like probably every kid in Ohio wanting to be a Buckeye, but even the guys from Ohio on the team told me that State was a great place and that they hate Michigan as much as we do. I can really see myself being a Spartan,” was the explanation that one offensive recruit gave.

Â
“I remember watching Coach Dantonio when he was a defensive coordinator at OSU, that OSU team is exactly how he is building MSU. I mean he is just starting to fix that team and they stayed within seven! I really, seriously, have to think about MSU and I would certainly say that they may even be in the lead. I have to get up there real soon,” was another recruit’s comments after the game.

Â
Building MSU is going to be a slow and deliberate process. Would anyone expect less of Dantonio; who has preached about this game being about inches from the onset? The good thing, however, is that he won’t cut corners and he won’t take shortcuts. Kids see that, and although some in the Spartan Nation will moan about the offense’s inability to move the ball, kids in the all important State of Ohio don’t. They see opportunity.

Â
“I like everything about Coach D, and what he is doing. If I end up picking MSU, I can’t think of any place that I would be prouder to be at. I love what he is doing,” was the words of a young man that has recruiters from multiple BCS schools interested.

Â
We lost on Saturday, but in a “game of inches” progress is still success.  We got an “L” on Saturday, but it may translate into some “W’s” in recruiting.
