The Big Recruiting Weekend Recap

This past weekend was one of the biggest recruiting weekends in recent Michigan State history, due to both the sheer number of recruits on campus but also because of the quality of those recruits.

There was one recruit on campus that was not on the initial list released by Spartannation. Eric Franklin, Offensive Tackle from Youngstown, OH.  Davion Rogers and Corey Cooper were late scratches due to the opportunity to visit other schools on their list.

This weekend was also one of the best performances by this coaching staff. They worked their tails off for the past couple of weeks putting this weekend together and their efforts were noticed.  Every uncommitted recruit that was on campus came away VERY impressed by this coaching staff, this university, and the fans.  Even the committed recruits came away with an increased love of the program.

Two current MSU commits really took the lead of showing these players around and were working the other recruits hard, trying to get them to commit. The uncommitted players appreciated this effort by their possible future teammates and increased their interest in MSU even further. One of the uncommitted recruits, when talking about the atmosphere at the Breslin said this, “The students here are ridiculous, that crowd was awesome!!”

Many of the other prospects agreed with this statement and said that this is the type of student section and type of atmosphere that they want to play in.  Every recruit and their families had nothing but positive things to say about the coaching staff and Michigan State University.

Going in to the weekend the staff had said they are looking to take five more players.  They have already received a commitment from Justin Wilson because of their efforts this weekend. Do not be surprised if the final four spots are also filled by prospects that were also on campus this past weekend.

On Thursday, we will be examining the upcoming weekend as it will be another important recruiting weekend before signing day.
